See what everyone is saying about Mike Looney's two novels, Heroes Are Hard To Find and Tickle The Light.
"Thanks for the copy of “Heroes Are
Hard To Find.” I appreciate the kind inscription. I agree with you
on two important issues. Mantle was magnificent and metal bats are not!
All the best!" More reviews on Heroes
Are Hard To Find
Mike's second novel, due out in the near future "Tickle The Light seemed so plausible and
made me realize how every guy I know would want one more shot at glory,
regardless of the price one would have to pay…spiritually and physically.
Great Read!" More reviews on Tickle
The Light
Following GWL's Trail "I challenge any person to read this story and
not come away with tears in their eyes. GWL is heartfelt, touching, and
certainly personal. It is my favorite read this year and reminds me of
the greatest Pat Conroy novels. Of course, Following GWL's Trail is not
a novel but as real life as it gets." "With the clarity and drama of real life, Mike
Looney pursues letters, notes, memorabilia and personal visits with heroic
combat buddies of his valiant and humble father during World War II and
makes a startling discovery. This one's a winner!" "I especially enjoyed the first and second person
memoirs. I treasure these war stories for they bring input that may not
be found in history books or tv documentaries. I know I regret the fact
I did not sit down with my granddad who was in WW I as a trooper. It was
like reading a mystery novel as one follows your interviews. Your recollections
of your dad reminded me of my dad. And I think most readers will have
dads from the same era as yours. Their time, as I said before, is either
of a first or second European generation. And they all reflect the non
spoken love they had for us. Yet their love was shown in other ways-like
a deep desire to protect us. A mention by your dad that he knew he was
having a breakdown was quite interesting. I know with my PWTS after Nam
that I would never had made such a statement. Your dad was both street
smart and courageous. As for the war I would simply add that he was probably
as much afraid of letting down his troops as he was of dying." "I really enjoyed GWL... very interesting way to
study war history. It made me think a lot about my own grandfathers and
what their experiences must have been like. Z was right, yall should have
shot higher in order to get the silver! I read it in three nights and
couldn't put it down! Great journey to get a peek at!" Mike speaks regularly at local and regional events. Click here to see what people are saying about his presentation.
